Land's End to John O'Groats

This is the story about a bunch of blokes at that point in life when they start mumbling comments, such as: “What is this life really all about?”, “You’re a long time dead” and “When was the last time, we did something for the first time?”

So, a mid-life crisis action plan was drawn up, resulting in the birth of SOG LE JOG – Sad Old Gits, Land’s End to John O’Groats.

It was not an easy birth, but after an initial bout of scepticism, the idea of a group of 50 somethings cycling from one end of the UK to the other was born.

The SOGs have decided that whilst they wear themselves out, by what is bound to be an eventful challenge, they would raise money for a selection of charities. Below are the SOGs in question, and the charities for which they wish to raise money:

John Barham - Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice ( communityhospice.org.uk )

Nick Bullen - Art Against Knives ( artagainstknives.com )

Paul Williams - Cancer Research UK ( cancerresearchuk.org )

Simon Stacey - Fountain of Life ( fountainoflifepattaya.com )

Mike Scanlan (pace maker, van driver)

Bernie Sharpe (pace maker, van driver)

Ian Pigney (van driver, mechanic, treasurer)
